Oh, this is good for hip-hop.

We’re eight months into the year, and Jay Z is still reigning supreme on his #newrules swag. The“Picasso Baby” rapper took #newrules to a new level last night when he reconciled with his former friend/business partner Dame Dash.

SMASH BIGOTRY! STAND AGAINST RACISM! PROTEST TED NUGENT'S HATE SPEECH IN OUR CITY!

The racist, sexist, homophobic Ted Nugent has made some disgusting statements about Trayvon Martin and Black people in general since the verdict was reached in the Zimmerman murder trial.

He is slated to play at Toad's Place on August 6th at 7:30 PM. Some New Haven area residents, including the local NAACP chapter, have come together and politely asked the owners of Toad's Place to cancel the show in solidarity for some in the community who are in mourning over this travesty of justice. The owners have refused to cancel the show, wrongly citing Nugent's First Amendment right to free speech. Legally, they, as private business owners, can choose to utilize their personal discretion as to whose speech to permit on their premises. Therefore they are choosing to promote Nugent's hate.

Some things Nugent has said:

* “Trayvon had no reason not to attack, because it was the standard thug thing to do.”
* Trayvon Martin was a "17-year-old dope smoking, racist gangsta wannabe."
* "if Trayvon Martin was a minor, then Trayvon Martin’s parents may be held liable for the emotional pain and suffering Mr. Zimmerman has been put through..."
* "Apartheid isn't that cut and dry. All men are not created equal. The preponderance of South Africa is a different breed of man.

Doug E. Fresh - Jordin Sparks

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Doug E. Fresh and singer Jordin Sparks lent their talents to the new song/video “Everybody” for First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign to fight childhood obesity. The track will be a part of the Songs for a Healthier America album, a collaborative effort between Obama, Hip-Hop Public Health, and Partnership for a Healthier America.

Songs for a Healthier America will be a Hip Hop based album used to inform children about the importance of nutrition and exercise to ensure healthy living. The LP will also include other songs like “Veggie Luv” with Monifah, “Hip Hop FEET” with DMC, and “Hip Hop LEAN.”

“This album is about more than just a great message and it’s about more than great music. It’s about making the healthy choice the easy choice,” said Drew Nannis, PHA’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Making healthier decisions doesn’t have to cost a lot, doesn’t require special apparel and doesn’t call for membership cards. The simple act of getting up and dancing is a great way to get active and this album – and the dozens of generous musicians who helped make it possible – can help show us how.”

The Let’s Move! campaign was announced in 2010. The following year Beyoncé remade her song “Get Me Bodied” as “Move Your Body” for the Let’s Move! Flash Workout initiative.

The full Songs for a Healthier America album will be available for download on September 30th at http://ahealthieramerica.org/songs/.

Carnival queen: Rihanna once again donned a very revealing outfit as she attended the Kadooment Carnival,  part of the Crop Over Festival in Barbados on Monday

Just when you thought the party was over, Rihanna once again emerges and outdoes herself.

After revelling until the early hours of the morning at the Crop Over Festival Foreday Morning Jam in Barbados on Saturday, the 25-year-old was right back at it again on Monday.

This time, the Diamonds singer was seen sipping out of a hip flask as she danced on a float during the Kadooment carnival, part of the eight day festival.

New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, the marquee name in baseball’s latest performance-enhancing drug scandal that originated at a South Florida anti-aging clinic, will be suspended through the 2014 season, though Rodriguez will be allowed to play as he pursues an appeal of the decision, according to a report Sunday night by the Associated Press.

The AP cited an anonymous source in saying the Yankees had been informed of the impending suspension. Officials from Major League Baseball and Rodriguez’s attorney, David Cornwell, did not respond to inquiries late Sunday night.

CANTON, Ohio (AP) -- Forcefully and emotionally, Cris Carter summed up the 50th induction ceremony for the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night.

The seventh and final inductee from the Class of 2013, Carter honored dozens of people in his life who were "going into the Hall of Fame with me tonight," as he followed Jonathan Ogden, Dave Robinson, Larry Allen, Bill Parcells, Curley Culp and Warren Sapp in being inducted.

More than 120 hall members, a record, and a crowd of 11,500 was on hand at Fawcett Stadium for the golden anniversary celebration of the shrine.

"I appreciate the process you have to go through to get to be a Hall of Famer," Carter said.

"To be able to join these men on this stage in football heaven is the greatest day of my life."

Carter needed six tries to make the hall even though he retired as the No. 2 career receiver behind Jerry Rice. He choked back tears as he made his speech after being presented by his son, Duron, and he spoke of his problems with alcohol while playing three years for the Eagles before being released.

He hooked on immediately with the Vikings and hooked onto nearly everything throw his way: Carter finished his 16-season career with 1,101 catches for 13,899 yards and 130 touchdowns.

"This game gave me identity, gave me a sense of purpose," he said.
