Kendrick Lamar started a hip-hop battle royale Monday when he called out rappers by name with his verse in Big Sean's Control.

Lamar dropped the gauntlet with a chorus that included these lyrics: "I'm usually homeboys with the same n----- I'm rhymin' with/But this is hip-hop and them n----- should know what time it is/And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T., Wale/Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake/Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller/I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you n-----."

By Wednesday, all sorts of artists, including Lupe Fiasco and B.o.B., had taken the challenge. (Note: Links lead to audio with explicit language.)

The rapper was trying to grab some lunch at Houston’s restaurant in Pasadena, Calif., earlier today, when he was denied service because of his tattoos.

According to the celeb’s numerous tweets following the incident, he was told by one of the managers on duty that his ink was threatening to other people dining at the restaurant.

“NEVER eating @ Houston’s restaurants as long as I live ! Denied service in Pasadena by mgr…because: I have tattoos on my arms ?!?,” Gameicon1.png tweeted.

He added, “Its 90 degrees outside so I have a tank top on & the manager on duty says the tattoos on my arms are threatening 2 lunch customersicon1.png…Racism still exists. SMH #DontEatAtHoustonsPasadena

50 Cent has been like a big brother and mentor to fellow Queens rapper Trav over the years. But like all families there are at times disagreements. This one just happened to play out publicly.

Back in July, Trav made some disparaging remarks on Twitter aimed at 50 that the G-Unitboss did not take kindly to.

KoolHerc2013.jpgIf you go by the books, Hip-Hop (I’ll spell it with capital letters since KRS-One told us to do so) turns 40 years old this month. Six summers before Big Bank Hank, Wonder Mike and Master Gee drove a Lincoln Continental and great big Cadillac up the charts to a Top 40 hit, the culture we collectively love was existing in the parks and rec centers, powered by the search for the perfect beat, the spirit of competition—and of course, stolen electricity.

Oprah Winfrey revealed she had a racist encounter while shopping in Switzerland - and the country's national tourist office issued a public apology for the experience.

Switzerland is desperately trying to make peace with Oprah Winfrey.

A trip to a tony Zurich shop ended in a disturbing racial encounter for the billionaire media mogul - a national humiliation that forced the Swiss tourism board to issue a public apology.

Winfrey said she was in town for Tina Turner’s wedding last month and stopped in the posh Trois Pommes boutique where she asked a clerk to see a $38,000 Tom Ford bag behind a glass case.

It’s been nearly a month since the “not guilty” verdict was read to the court in the case of George Zimmerman against the state of Florida in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, but that doesn’t mean the fight for justice has subsided.

Russell Simmons celebrated his 14th annual Art For Life event in East Hampton, and the occasion featured a red carpet full of star-studded guests ranging from Rick Ross to Maxwell, hostess of the night Soledad O’Brian and more, but of course, the most important man of the hour was the boss man himself, Russell Simmons.

Oh, this is good for hip-hop.

We’re eight months into the year, and Jay Z is still reigning supreme on his #newrules swag. The“Picasso Baby” rapper took #newrules to a new level last night when he reconciled with his former friend/business partner Dame Dash.

\Toad's Place, 300 York St, New Haven, CT 06511
SMASH BIGOTRY! STAND AGAINST RACISM! PROTEST TED NUGENT'S HATE SPEECH IN OUR CITY!

The racist, sexist, homophobic Ted Nugent has made some disgusting statements about Trayvon Martin and Black people in general since the verdict was reached in the Zimmerman murder trial.

He is slated to play at Toad's Place on August 6th at 7:30 PM. Some New Haven area residents, including the local NAACP chapter, have come together and politely asked the owners of Toad's Place to cancel the show in solidarity for some in the community who are in mourning over this travesty of justice. The owners have refused to cancel the show, wrongly citing Nugent's First Amendment right to free speech. Legally, they, as private business owners, can choose to utilize their personal discretion as to whose speech to permit on their premises. Therefore they are choosing to promote Nugent's hate.

Some things Nugent has said:

* “Trayvon had no reason not to attack, because it was the standard thug thing to do.”
* Trayvon Martin was a "17-year-old dope smoking, racist gangsta wannabe."
* "if Trayvon Martin was a minor, then Trayvon Martin’s parents may be held liable for the emotional pain and suffering Mr. Zimmerman has been put through..."
* "Apartheid isn't that cut and dry. All men are not created equal. The preponderance of South Africa is a different breed of man.

Doug E. Fresh - Jordin Sparks

(AllHipHop News) Rapper Doug E. Fresh and singer Jordin Sparks lent their talents to the new song/video “Everybody” for First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” campaign to fight childhood obesity. The track will be a part of the Songs for a Healthier America album, a collaborative effort between Obama, Hip-Hop Public Health, and Partnership for a Healthier America.

Songs for a Healthier America will be a Hip Hop based album used to inform children about the importance of nutrition and exercise to ensure healthy living. The LP will also include other songs like “Veggie Luv” with Monifah, “Hip Hop FEET” with DMC, and “Hip Hop LEAN.”

“This album is about more than just a great message and it’s about more than great music. It’s about making the healthy choice the easy choice,” said Drew Nannis, PHA’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Making healthier decisions doesn’t have to cost a lot, doesn’t require special apparel and doesn’t call for membership cards. The simple act of getting up and dancing is a great way to get active and this album – and the dozens of generous musicians who helped make it possible – can help show us how.”

The Let’s Move! campaign was announced in 2010. The following year Beyoncé remade her song “Get Me Bodied” as “Move Your Body” for the Let’s Move! Flash Workout initiative.

The full Songs for a Healthier America album will be available for download on September 30th at http://ahealthieramerica.org/songs/.
