Two belts are on the line in the main event as Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) female super bantamweight world champion Shelly Vincent (13-0, 1 KO) of Providence, R.I., battles three-time world-title challenger Christina Ruiz (7-7-3, 4 KOs) of San Antonio, Tex. Both Vincent’s UBF title and the vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) world title will be up for grabs.

LINCOLN, R.I. (March 19th, 2015) -- The phone call couldn't have come at a better time for Jean Pierre Augustin, even if he wasn't quite sure it was real.
"I didn't take it seriously at first," said the Lawrence, Mass., cruiserweight boxer. "I thought it was a prank."
But this was no joke. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, a chance for the 27-year-old fighter to play a role in Bleed For This, the upcoming Chad Verdi-produced film based on the career of five-time world champion Vinny Paz.
Augustin (4-0, 2 KOs) landed the role of former world champ Gilbert Dele, whom Paz beat in 1991, and made a lasting impression on the cast and crew, specifically Verdi and Paz, who are now guiding Augustin's boxing career, which resumes Friday, April 3rd, 2015 at Twin River Casino on the undercard of "The Revival," presented by CES Boxing in association with Verdi Productions.

"This is a blessing for me," Augustin said. "There's no other way for me to describe it."
"Vinny is 100 percent committed to training JP and making him a world champion," Verdi said. "This is the main reason I agreed to become JP's manager, and working with Vinny again is an absolute joy. Both Vinny and I feel JP has what it takes to become a champion, but it's up to him to put in all the hard work and dedication needed."
That part is nothing new for Augustin, who, with few connections on the local boxing circuit, needed the help of a sponsor at the beginning of his pro career just to pay his way onto various cards in West Virginia and North Carolina, where he amassed a 4-0 record with two first-round knockouts in 2014.
But the money from fighting wasn't enough to pay the bills, so the Haitian-born Augustin found other ways to earn a living, working as a plumber, security guard and even a part-time Uber driver.
"I really didn't know where my career was going," he said. "I was basically living out of a suitcase moving from camp to camp, hustling here and there to get a job done and get some cash.
"I was pursuing a dream, but the dream really wasn't taking me anywhere."
Raised in Boston before moving to Lawrence at the age of 10, Augustin's first love was martial arts, but it wasn't "physical enough," so, on the recommendation of his sensei, he took up boxing at a local gym.
"I instantly fell in love with it," he said.
After 55 amateur fights (49 wins among them), Augustin finally turned pro in February of 2014. The struggle to land a spot on a card in New England with other promoters - "I just couldn't get a fair shake," he said - forced Augustin to remain a boxing nomad until he linked up with Verdi and Paz on the set for Bleed For This.
The rest is history. With Verdi as his manager, Paz as his trainer, and CES president Jimmy Burchfield Sr. as his promoter, Augustin now has an opportunity to build a fan base in New England and take his career to new heights. The journey begins April 3rd in a four-round bout against New Haven, Conn., vet Solomon Maye (1-4).
"Things have been unfolding quickly," said Augustin, who has been training and sparring at Balletto's Gym in Providence while also working with Rhode Island-based coach Vic Fagnant. "It's not overwhelming, but it's a lot to process.
"I'm just thankful for this opportunity."

Friday’s scheduled funeral service for former Mayor John C. Daniels,

In the much-anticipated main event of the evening, Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev (27-0-1, 24 KOs)* and Jean Pascal (29-3-1, 17 KOs) pleased fans with an action-packed battle. Both fighters started by trading some good shots, but Kovalev started to throw some nasty combinations in the third round to take the wind out of the hostile crowd at the Centre Bell in Montreal. Just before the end of the third round, Kovalev knocked Pascal through the ropes but Pascal was saved by the bell. Sergey came out swinging in the fourth to try to capitalize on the near KO, but Pascal managed to stay on his feet and land a huge right to show Kovalev he was still in the fight. As the bell rang to end the fourth round, both men were still trading big shots.
The fifth round began quietly, but Pascal started to throw some intense combinations in the middle of the round. Kovalev continued to be the aggressor, however, landing some big shots of his own. The crowd at Centre Bell was deafening with cheers for Pascal and boos for Kovalev. Finally, in the eighth round, Sergey came on with a brutal attack that resulted in his own slip. While Sergey was getting up, Pascal looked noticeably rattled at the ropes. The two traded a couple more shots before referee Luis Pabon stopped the fight and declared Kovalev the winner by TKO in the eighth round.
After the fight, Kovalev insisted he will be ready for anything next. He said, "Thank you so much. How it started I didn't like. After fourth round I gained control. He was mine after that. He got me a couple good punches. It is boxing. [On a potential fight with Stevenson] I am ready for anything. [On the possibility of a rematch] I am ready for any fights. If my promoter says I fight Jean Pascal again, I will fight him."
Pascal felt the stoppage was premature, but said this after the fight, "Honestly, it was a good fight. It was an action fight for the fans. I tip my hat to Kovalev. He is a champion. I don't know why the referee stopped the fight. It was a great fight. I was in the fight from the first round. We should do it again. I should have a rematch. I am a crowd-pleaser. At Centre Bell I am always going to give the fans a great fight. I will be back."
In the fight for the #1 position in the IBF and USBA Heavyweight Championship stablemates Vyacheslav "Czar" Glazkov (20-0-1, 12 KOs) and Steve "USS" Cunningham (28-7, 13 KOs) came out of the box trading big punches. Cunningham appeared to have a slight edge in the first few rounds, but Glazkov, who is always a slow starter, began to show signs of life in the fifth round. The unofficial scorecards from the television and the media were all over the map on this fight, but the judges officially scored the fight 116-112, 115-113 and 116-112 all in favor of Czar Glazkov for a unanimous decision victory. The Ukrainian remains undefeated and will anxiously await to face the winner of Klitschko-Jennings next month.
The PunchStat had Glazkov landing a greater percentage of his shots but a smaller total number of shots (Glazkov 144/441 - 33%; Cunningham 180/649 - 28%). Their jabs landed were almost identical (Glazkov 60/215 - 28%; Cunningham 57/309 - 18%), but Cunningham had the edge with the power punches landed. Their power punch percentages were near even (Glazkov 84/226 - 37%; Cunningham 123-340 - 36%).
The HBO World Championship Boxing telecast began with Main Eventsstablemates slugging it out for the vacant NABF Light Heavyweight Title, Isaac "Golden Boy" Chilemba (23-2-2, 10 KOs) of Malawi and Vasily "The Professor" Lepikhin (17-1, 9 KOs) of Russia. Both fighters looked good early on. In the second round, Chilemba got in some hard shots on the Russian but Lepikhin did not seem fazed. However, Chilemba continued to dominate Lepikhin for the remainder of the fight. Lepikhin managed to go the distance but Chilemba secured a decisive unanimous decision with two judges scoring the bout 99-91 and the third scoring it 100-90. This was the first career loss for Lepikhin and the first fight of the evening to go the distance.
The final PunchStat report has Chilemba landing more than double the number of total punches than Lepikhin, despite their connection percentages being similar (Chilemba 192/683 - 28%; Lepikhin 75/289 - 26%). Also, Chilemba landed nearly half of his power punches (100 of 237 - 42%) whereas Lepikhin landed 27% (36 of 131).
In the final bout before the live HBO telecast, David Theroux (6-0, 4 KOs) of Sorel, QC, CAN stopped Lukasz Janik (12-10-1, 6 KOs) of Katowice, Poland in the third round. Janik fell victim to the three knockdown rule and the referee declared Theroux the winner by TKO at 2:31 in the third round.
Local favorite Dierry Jean (28-1, 20 KOs) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Carlos Manuel Reyes (24-4-1, 16 KOs) of Mao, Dominican Republic were scheduled for ten rounds of light heavyweight action. However, Jean knocked down Reyes in the third. He was then knocked down again a few seconds later and the referee stopped the fight.
Nadjib "Iron Jib" Mohammedi (38-3, 23 KOs) of Aix-en-Provence, France, the #1 contender in the IBF light heavyweight rankings, took on Lee Junior Campbell (8-2, 4 KOs) of Laurenburg, NC. Mohammedi dominated Campbell for every round until the referee stopped the fight in the sixth. As the IBF mandatory contender, he is scheduled to face Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev in his next fight.
According to PunchStat, Nadjib landed more total punches than Campbell threw (Mohammedi 243/672 - 36%; Campbell 40/196 - 20%). The same was also true for jabs (Mohammedi 91/321 - 28%; Campbell 11/74 - 15%) and power punches (Mohammedi 152/351 - 43%; Campbell 29/122 - 24%).
After the fight, Mohammedi said, "I am very happy because this was a great place for a fight. This was my first fight with my new trainer, Abel Sanchez. Tonight I take my time. Campbell was tired and I worked to wear him down. This was a good win tonight. I was smart tonight. Everybody got to see me. Now Canada knows Nadjib Mohammedi."
Light welterweight Yves Ulysse Junior (6-0, 4 KOs) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada and Miguel Antoine (17-2-1, 9 KOs) of Wildey, Barbados were scheduled for eight rounds but Junior knocked down Antoine three times in the fourth round. He continued his attack in the sixth round and knocked down Antoine at 2:43 and the referee stopped the fight.
In the first bout of the evening welterweights Dmitry "The Mechanic" Mikhaylenko (19-0, 8 KOs) of Gelendzhik, Russia and Felipe De La Paz (14-4-2, 5 KOs) of Monterrey, Mexico faced-off. Mikhaylenko knocked down De La Paz just before the bell ended the first round. "The Mechanic" continued his fierce attack on De La Paz until De La Paz quit on the stool before the start of the sixth round.

Steve "USS" Cunningham [On his first fight in Montreal] I am excited. This is my first time in Canada. From the Pascal fights I have seen, the fans in Montreal are crazy for boxing. I am excited to go.
[On his first fight on HBO] It is 14 years in the making. I am happy to finally be here.
[On Glazkov] He struggled against Malik Scott and Derric Rossy and they have similar styles. I ain't worried about none of that though. I need to do what Steve Cunningham does. I come to kick butt. I come to win. I come to walk out of there with my hands raised.
[On the stakes riding on this fight] The stakes for this fight are the ultimate stakes. This is the fight to get to the heavyweight title. This is that fight that gets you there. Every fight I have had has been the most important fight of my career but this fight is on the stage for that #1 spot. This is to get to the champion. This is the biggest fight of my career. This is the biggest fight of a lot of peoples' careers. I want to capitalize on it. I want to make the best of it. I want to get in there and do what I am supposed to do. I want to get in there and do what I know I can do. I don't want to be concerned with Glazkov himself I am just focusing on me. This is the upper echelon stakes.
[On fighting Klitschko or Jennings if he wins] I just need to get in there and handle this business. I can elaborate more on that March 15. Right now Glazkov is the tip of the spear.
I am looking at this fight like it is a cruiserweight fight. Naazim and I had good work. We got in good sparring with good guys that we have worked with before. We have been putting in good work and we are ready for anything. He could come in at 250 [pounds] if he wants or 210 [pounds] and we are ready to go.
I have been the underdog since I started boxing. The main thing to do is keep the faith. When you believe in what you are doing, you love what you do and you work hard at what you do then nobody can stop you. I have always been the underdog, always. I was the underdog for so long so that motivation is just built into me. How many times have I fought in Philly? As a cruiserweight it was only one time. Now I have fought here a few times as a heavyweight. Even as an amateur I never really had that home court advantage, never. That is a kitchen I cook in well. I am used to not being comfortable. I learned to work in uncomfortable situations. I was in the United States Navy for four years. I am ready for hard work. When you can perform in lack of comfort it builds something in you. I have seen guys seen guys break down mentally when they have to fight overseas because they are not in comfortable setting. I could care less about where I fight. We could have a ring on the moon and Steve Cunningham is golden time.
A lot of fans want to see you take the throne from the king. I am a boxing fan myself. Before I was a fighter I was a fan. I understand the fans want you to take the crown from the king. I would love to fight Wladimir [Klitschko] because when you are a champion and you are at that level the challenges are what drive you. It is not just money and this and that. A champion wants to put himself up against the best. He wants to see how he fairs against the best. Wladimir Klitschko is the best right now. I would love to challenge him. I have been to camp with Wladimir twice. He and I have a good relationship. We talk all the time. We've got the same lawyer. I totally respect him.
We work on putting the weight on. This camp I have been coming in higher than I have in the past. I don't matter. Whatever weight we come in at, that's the weight we are fighting at. That's my mindset. I try to put the weight on but my metabolism is so crazy and I sweat so much I can't keep it on.
Brother Naazim Richardson, Cunningham's trainer [On Glazkov's Olympic experience] I don't underestimate Glazkov in any capacity. Even though fighters say it's not true, but I believe any kid who has been to the Olympics is ready for the big stage. I have been to the Olympics. The Olympics is large. More people watch the Olympics than any world championship fight. I was with my son at the Olympics with Bernard Hopkins, and Bernard had every belt you could have, and I asked my son how the opening game of the Olympics compared to any fight he had ever been to. He said this ain't even close. I think Glazkov is ready for anything after competing in the Olympics. He is definitely one of the most dangerous athletes, if not the most dangerous, one we have ever faced for that reason. He is a very talented kid.
Steve needs to be the best Steve Cunningham he can be and that will be enough for Glazkov. When Steve is at his best he brings enough to the table to beat him. Steve just turned heavyweight not too long ago yet he is facing his fourth undefeated heavyweight and the third one in a row. Who has done that, including the champion? I feel that had he had more time to acclimate to this weight class he would have put on an even better performance against [Tyson] Fury.

UBF SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT world champion Shelly Vincent, left, of Providence, R.I., will make the first defense of her title Friday, April 3, 2015 in the 10-round main event of CES Boxing's "The Revival" when she faces hard-hitting San Antonio native Christina Ruiz. Vincent is putting her undefeated record on the line while Ruiz is looking to capture her second world title in the fifth title bout of her career. The vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) female super bantamweight world title is also on the line.
Now that she's finally a world champion, Shelly Vincent must face the same challenges every title-holder faces each time she steps inside the ring, most notably the prospect of staring down a hungry opponent desperate to take what's hers.
Five months after capturing the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) super bantamweight title, Vincent (13-0, 1 KO) will defend the crown and put her unbeaten record on the line Friday, April 3rd, 2015 against former world champion and four-time title contender Christina Ruiz (7-7-3, 4 KOs) of San Antonio in the 10-round main event of CES Boxing's "The Revival" at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.
As an added bonus, the vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) female super bantamweight world title, last held by Ana Julaton, is also up for grabs.
"This will be my biggest fight to date, even better than my war with [Jackie] Trivilino," Vincent said. "My team expanded with Sharik Ali as my head strength coach. We're working on new things.
"You will see a new beast in there. They're transforming me into a killer."

Willimantic, Conn., light heavyweight Kevin Cobbs (9-1, 3 KOs) returns to face undefeated Providence, R.I., native Angel Camacho Jr. (13-0, 4 KOs) in the six-round co-feature while welterweights Nick DeLomba (6-0) of Cranston, R.I., and Joe Wilson Jr. (3-1) of Hartford, Conn., battle in a six-round special attraction.
No stranger to tough fights, the 29-year-old, 5-foot-3 Ruiz has stood toe-to-toe with elite competition in several weight classes, including current UBF bantamweight champion Tyrieshia Douglas, International Boxing Federation (IBF) title-challenger Jennifer Han, former World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight world champion Kaliesha West and 33-fight veteran Alicia Ashley, a former World Boxing Council (WBC) title-holder in the super bantamweight division.
Two years after challenging Ashley for the then-vacant WBC 122-pound world title, Ruiz defeated Christina Fuentes by unanimous decision to capture the vacant International Female Boxers Association (IFBA) world super bantamweight title, her first victory in three title bouts. She's faced six undefeated fighters over the span of four and a half years with two notable wins during that stretch, including a knockout victory over previously unbeaten Emily Klinefelter in 2011 and a unanimous decision win over Jennifer Scott in 2010.
Ruiz also fought WBC No. 7 ranked super bantamweight Celina Salazar twice, earning a draw in their rematch in 2010, and faced former WBO lightweight champ Amanda Serrano, now ranked No. 2 in the world, in just her second pro fight.
With a resume second to none, Ruiz is a serious threat to dethrone Vincent, who has climbed to No. 6 in the WBC after beating Jackie Trivilino in a back-and-forth slugfest to capture the then-vacant UBF crown in November. Vincent also boasts a pair of wins over Bronx native Nydia Feliciano and a unanimous decision win over four-time world-title challenger Angel Gladney in 2013.
"I'm training like I've never trained before," Ruiz said. "I'm taking this fight very seriously and putting in 110 percent. I can't let another world title pass through my hands. With God on my side I will come out victorious."
The undercard of "The Revival" features several noteworthy regional showdowns, including a four-round junior welterweight bout between unbeaten Worcester, Mass., native Freddy Sanchez (3-0, 2 KOs) and Briam Granado (1-0, 1 KO) of New Bedford, Mass., and a four-round super middleweight bout between Zachary Christy (1-0-1) of Warwick, R.I. (St. Petersburg, Fla.), and former Rocky Marciano Tournament amateur champion Bobby Flynn of Sandwich, Mass., who is making his professional boxing debut.
Also on the undercard, New Bedford junior middleweight Ray Oliveira Jr. (3-0, 2 KOs) returns to face Cambridge, Mass., newcomer Yves Thevenin. Heavyweight Jean Pierre Agustin (4-0, 2 KOs) of Lawrence, Mass., makes his New England and Twin River debut and unbeaten middleweight prospect Khiary Gray-Pitts (5-0, 3 KOs) of Worcester fights for the third time in 2015, both in separate bouts.

BANTAMWEIGHT CONTENDER ANDRE Soukhamthath, right, will make his AXS TV debut Friday, March 13th, 2015 on the main card of "CES MMA XXVIII" when he faces New York native Brian Kelleher. Since relocating to Florida, the Rhode Island-born Soukhamthath has learned to balance life in and outside of the cage as he continues to climb to the top of his weight class.
-- Andre Soukhamthath knew relocating to Florida would be beneficial to his career. He just never knew it'd be this difficult.
Since packing up his family and moving to Boca Raton, Fla., to train with the renowned Blackzilians, the Woonsocket, R.I., native Soukhamthath (8-2, 4 KOs) has been forced to readjust his philosophies and priorities, important steps in his development as he prepares for his AXS TV debut on the main card of "CES MMA XXVIII" Friday, March 13th, 2015 at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, R.I.
"I had a little talk with one of my coaches and he said to me, 'You know what? When you go home to fight, you've got to forget everything and just focus on the fight. Just relax. Don't leave the hotel or wherever you're staying.' He's right," Soukhamthath said.
"I'm there for business. I need to handle my business and then come home. I try to see everybody when I'm up here, but this is my career. I really need to handle my business now."
Soukhamthath will face New York native and Bombsquad vet Brian Kelleher (11-7, 5 KOs) in a three-round bantamweight bout, a fight originally scheduled for January until Soukhamthath wound up with the flu during his extended stay in Rhode Island. It's all part of the learning process. Instead of heading north a week earlier, Soukhamthath will land in the Ocean State the night before the weigh-in to avoid any issues with the climate change.
"It was a sign that it wasn't my time to fight," he said. "This time, it definitely is."
The opportunity to fight in front of a worldwide audience is long overdue for the hard-working Soukhamthath, who won seven consecutive fights under CES MMA's guidance before a narrow defeat to Kin Moy in January of 2014. His return to form in a submission win over Thomas English in October coincided with CES MMA's budding relationship with AXS TV; with three more nationally-televised events scheduled for Twin River in 2015, Soukhamthath could get more opportunities to broaden his horizons in front of a much larger audience.
"I've waited a long time for this," he said. "I think it'll bring out the best in me. This is a good opportunity to expose myself and gain some new fans.
"A win would be big, especially a win in big fashion. Whether it's TV or not, I'm always going for the finish. I have that swag for Asian Americans and hopefully I can gain more Asian American fans throughout the nation, even fans in other countries. I just want people to see me following my dream. I'm never going to change. Hopefully, people will like me."
Kelleher could benefit from the same exposure. He's no stranger to the big stage, having fought twice for Bellator in his four-year career, and is convinced Soukhamthath has "openings I can exploit" from what little film he's watched.
"He seems fairly comfortable with his standup, but he gets into wild exchanges sometimes," Kelleher said. "I've got a feel for him, but every fight is different. I just know I can exploit his weaknesses."
"I'm just going in there and doing my thing," Soukhamthath countered. "I don't really worry about what the other guy is doing."
Kelleher last fought in November, choking out hometown favorite Mark Cherico in Pittsburgh, but the thrill of handing his opponent the first defeat of his career doesn't compare to the exposure he could gain from dethroning Soukhamthath on national television in front of a rabid crowd at Twin River.
"I'm looking for fights that will propel me to the top," he said. "I just haven't been out there that much lately. I need to step up for things to happen. This is a good start. I have some momentum now."
After being unable to compete in January, Soukhamthath also hopes momentum is still on his side. He's matured since moving to Florida, not just as a fighter, but as a professional, learning to handle the ebbs and flows of the sport and focusing on what matters most when it's time to step inside the cage.
"When I lost, I felt like it was the end of the world," Soukhamthath said, "but I train my ass off for every fight, so I know if someone beats me they must've worked hard, too. Sometimes you can't get the nod from the judges. I won't bitch and cry about it. I'm just going to move forward, tweak a few things and keep doing what I'm doing.
"I won seven fights in a row. Now I'm with the Blackzilians under their system. I feel like no one can beat me. I'm the same fighter with the same killer instinct, but I've got some new tools under my belt. I'm thinking differently as a fighter."

Dracut, Mass., lightweight and 14-time Bellator vet Rick Hawn (19-4, 11 KOs) faces Derek Loffer (9-2, 6 KOs) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa in the main event. The main card of "CES MMA XXVIII" also features the return of Norwood, Mass., heavyweight Tyler King (8-2, 3 KOs), who faces seasoned vet Mike Mucitelli (7-1, 1 KO) of Syracuse, while Pawtucket, R.I., middleweight Todd Chattelle (12-11, 9 KOs) returns to the CES MMA cage for a record 12th time looking to snap a two-fight losing streak when he faces the dangerous Roger Carroll (15-11), who has submitted 14 of his 15 victims.
Also on the main card, Hollis, N.H., bantamweight Joey Gomez (5-0, 5 KOs) puts his unbeaten record on the line against the poised veteranMoy (6-1, 2 KOs) of Cambridge, Mass., the only fighter to beat fellow bantamweight Soukhamthath in the past four years; and Boston featherweight Kyle Bochniak (4-0, 1 KO) battles Dominic Warr (4-5, 1 KO) of Allston, Mass.
The star-studded preliminary card features the return of fan-favorite Lewis Corapi (6-1, 3 KOs) of Medford, Mass., who battles lightweight Jay Bakanowski (2-1, 1 KO) of Northborough, Mass.
