After Three Straight Wins Lonnie B Thompson is Looking to Keep His Streak Alive Against Young Up-and-Comer Kalajdzic March 29 at Boardwall Hall
Atlantic City, NJ: 28 year old light heavyweight Lionell "Lonnie B" Thompson (15-2-0, 9KOs) is looking to keep his streak of three straight wins alive as the highlight of the undercard of the Kovalev-Agnew fight at Boardwalk Hall on March 29 with his ten round match-up against the undefeated Radivoje "Hot Rod" Kalajdzic (14-0-0, 10 KOs) originally of Zenica, Bosnia.

Lonnie's three straight victories include two unanimous decisions, one on December 14, 2013 against Ryan Coyne in ten rounds as the co-feature on NBCSN Fight Night at Resorts in Atlantic City, NJ, the other an eight round unanimous decision victory over Yathomas Riley at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington, NY on May 11, 2013, and a second round TKO against Chuck Mussachio at Bally's Event Center in Atlantic City, NJ on February 23, 2013. He said, "It is very important for me to keep the momentum going after three straight wins but I really don't focus on that.  I just don't plan on losing for the rest of my career.  I just think about dominating every opponent I get in the ring with."

Thompson has not lost since September 21, 2012 when he suffered a third round TKO (on nine days' notice) at the hands of Main Events stable mate Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev, who is coincidentally defending his WBO Light Heavyweight Title in the main event on March 29.  Lonnie reflects on the Kovalev fight as a great learning experience and a chance to prove he can get right back in the ring.  He said, "After the Kovalev fight I came right back and I think a lot of people are overlooking that.  A lot of guys take a loss and take like ten months off.  I came in as an opponent and dominated my next three opponents.  I didn't take the easy fights.  I came in with all odds against me."

Lonnie is originally from Buffalo, NY but he is training for this fight in Manhattan, NY at Mendez Boxing.  He said he has a great sparring partner to help him prepare to fight Kalajdzic, "I have a sparring fighter that fights exactly like him but just a little more aggressive.  My sparring partner is Russian and he works out perfect to prepare me for this fight.  He doesn't speak the language but he is strong as hell.  I'm ready."

The undefeated Kalajdzic has a 71% knockout-to-win-ratio but Thompson's manager, Kevin Diever, does not think that will matter, "He has never faced anybody with the competition of Lionell. He has a protected record.  Lionell is quicker and has the ability to destroy this guy. This time he is both physically and mentally prepared.  He is going to have contend with the best version of Lionell."

According to Main Events' matchmaker Jolene Mizzone, Kalajdzic wanted this fight, "This is a fight where the opponent called and specifically asked to fight Thompson.  Getting opponents for Lonnie is not easy.  Kalajdzic is young and hungry and he wants to fight the guy that no one wants to fight. That says a lot about him.  This will be Kalajdzic's biggest test to date."

IBF Light Heavyweight Eliminator

Moved to June 21st
Totowa, NJ: The fight originally scheduled for April 4th between #2-ranked Dmitry "The Hunter" Sukhotsky (21-2-0, 16 KOs) and #4-ranked Anatoliy "The Gladiator" Dudchenko (19-2-0, 13 KOs) has been postponed.  Sukhotsky has pulled out of the eliminator and Nadjib Mohammedi (34-3-0, 20 KOs) has agreed to participate in his place.  The bout is tentatively scheduled to be part of the card on the June 21st event at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Wilkes-Barre, PA on NBCSN Fight Night

Dudchenko, 35, is originally from Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine and now resides in Los Angeles, CA.  He is currently the IBF Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Champion.  This will be his first fight in the Northeast and his first since signing with Main Events.  "The Gladiator" has won sixteen straight bouts in a row (seven by knockout) dating all the way back to May 16, 2008 with his first round TKO of Chris Eppley in Evansville, Indiana.

Mohammedi, 29 of Gardanne, Bouches-du-Rhône, France has never fought in the United States.  Nadjib has not lost since October 8, 2011 when Sukhotsky defeated him via TKO in the second round in Saint Petersburg, Russia; he has won ten straight since that time with seven knockouts.  Mohammedi is currently ranked #5 in the IBF.

Main Events' CEO Kathy Duva said, "Dudchenko is ready to fight anyone the IBF wants him to fight. We are working to make sure this fight gets done as soon as possible.  The IBF has ordered the winner of the Bernard Hopkins vs. Beibut Shumenov match-up to fight the winner of this fight.  So this is a very big opportunity for both fighters."

Fan-favorite Chatman returns to Rhode Island to take on Contender alum Brewer

The Contender Season 2 champion Grady Brewer has faced several top prospects in his career, including Demetrius Andrade and Erislandy Lara, and also owns two recent wins against undefeated fighters.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (March 18th, 2014) -- As far as out-of-town fighters are concerned, Chris Chatman has had so much success at Twin River the casino might want to consider adding his name to the deed.

The hard-hitting fan-favorite from Jersey City will return to his second home Friday, March 28th, 2014 when he faces The Contender alum Grady Brewer in the eight-round middleweight main event of Classic Entertainment & Sports' upcoming professional boxing card at the Event Center.

The event also features the return of Cape Cod, Mass., heavyweight Jesse Barboza (7-1-1, 5 KOs); unbeaten Providence middleweight KJ Harrison-Lombardi (5-0-1); welterweight Nick DeLomba (2-0) of Cranston, R.I., and undefeated Springfield, Mass., welterweight Zack Rasmey (6-0, 3 KOs).

Tickets for the event are priced at $41, $76 and $126 (VIP) and can be purchased by calling 401-724-2253/2254, online at www.cesboxing.com or www.ticketmaster.com, or at the Players Club at Twin River. All fights and fighters are subject to change.

Originally from San Diego, Chatman (11-3-1, 5 KOs) first won over the Rhode Island crowd in 2009 when he fought tooth and nail against former Olympian and Providence native Demetrius Andrade, at the time the toughest fight of Andrade's young career. He returned two years later with a knockout win over Rahman Yusubov and made his third appearance at Twin River in July of 2013 by beating hometown favorite Thomas Falowo by unanimous decision.

The muscular, 5-foot-8 southpaw has become an unlikely fan-favorite in Rhode Island with both his colorful interviews at press conferences and no-nonsense approach in the ring. Now, with the crowd firmly in his corner, he'll face the veteran Brewer (30-18, 16 KOs), who fought alongside Rhode Island's Gary "Tiger" Balletto on Season 2 of The Contender and won the $500,000 cash prize by beating former world-title challenger Steve Forbes by split decision in the finals.

Like Chatman, Brewer is no stranger to New England; the Lawton, Okla., native fought in 2008 on the undercard of the CES and the Tournament of Contenders' co-promotion at The Dunkin' Donuts Center in Providence, beating Season 2 teammate and former light middleweight world champion Cornelius Brundage by split decision. In 2009, he stopped unbeaten Nigerian prospect Albert Onolunose in the second round of their scheduled 12-round bout and two years later handed world-title challenger Fernando Guerrero -- 21-0 at the time -- the first loss his career via fourth-round knockout. Brewer has also faced World Boxing Association (WBA) light middleweight champion Erislandy Lara, current World Boxing Organization (WBO) champ Andrade and unbeaten Russian prospect Matt Korobov in his 15-year career.

With Chatman-Brewer at the top, the undercard is stacked with the region's top talent, including rising stars DeLomba and Harrison-Lombardi, who've quickly become household names in Rhode Island. A protégé of Balletto, DeLomba will fight a four-round bout in his first appearance since September while Harrison-Lombardi will aim to keep his perfect record intact in a four-round bout against Jason Bakanowski (0-1) of Worcester, Mass., following his win over Antonio Fernandes in February.

Coming off a knockout win over veteran Arthur Saribekian in November, Barboza will look to stay on track against East Stroudsburg, Pa., heavyweight Glenn Thomas in a four-round bout while Ramsey takes on veteran Shakha Moore (11-19-3, 2 KOs) of Norwalk, Conn., in a six-rounder.

Louisiana cruiserweight Alvin Varmall Jr. (2-0, 2 KOs), who made his Twin River debut in February with a knockout win over Andre Ward, will return to face Devon Mosley (0-0-1) of Capitol Heights, Md., in a four-round bout and Chattanooga, Tenn., lightweight prospect Ryan Martin (3-0, 2 KOs) will face Justin Robbins (2-5, 1 KO) of Springfield, Ill., in a four-round bout.
