MAYOR HARP, PARKS ‘N’ REC OFFICIALS SAY LIGHTHOUSE POINT PARK WILL OPEN SATURDAY

 

New Haven – Mayor Toni N. Harp and officials of the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Trees said today Lighthouse Point Park will open Saturday morning and vehicle parking permits will be available there beginning that day. Officials said the park will be open weekends only – and Monday, May 28 for Memorial Day – for the remainder of the New Haven Public Schools school-year calendar.

 

Lighthouse Point Park will open daily once city schools recess for the summer.

 

Parking permits will be available weekends from 7:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the park entrance. Vehicles registered to a city address are eligible for a free permit; a ‘season pass’ for vehicles registered in other towns is $100. A $20/day entrance fee applies to vehicles without a permit.

 

Lighthouse Point Park is an 82-acre city park along the shore of Long Island Sound. It offers swimming, a splash-pad area, picnic tables, nature trails, a bird sanctuary, and an antique carousel. More information about the park is available at: http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/parks.
