Send a remote HUG people can really feel,
get close no matter where you are!

SHORT INTRO
The new app, HUG, wants to bring people closer together and make digital communication a bit more tactile.

EXPLANATORY INTRO
HUG is a new app that lets you hug each other no matter where you are in the world. Just hug your phone by keeping it close to your heart. Using your phone’s proximity sensor, HUG will detect and record how long your hug is. The receiver will then feel your HUG with a vibration – for the same amount of time you’ve hugged your phone for. HUG makes it easy to send or feel a hug even if they’re on the opposite side of the planet. Try it – it actually feels really good!

FORMER GOOGLE EMPLOYEES
Former Googlers (and brothers) Petter Prinz and Kaspar Prinz are hoping to encourage people to use their smartphones for something a little unusual: to HUG each other. Like a real, physical hug.

CONNECTED, YET MORE ALONE
“Today friends, couples and families are living on different schedules and different parts of the world. The most written word in 2014 wasn’t “Hi” or “Hello”, it was the heart emoji. With Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp we’re constantly trying to keep in touch. But along the way we’ve lost the physical touch . With HUG we’re hoping to change that.” says Petter Prinz (CEO & CoFounder).

THE FIRST EMOJI YOU CAN FEEL
HUG is a simple, fast and fun way to communicate in a physical, yet digital way. For the first time, the emoji can be more tactile. Just hug your phone by keeping it close to your heart. Using your phone’s proximity sensor, HUG will detect and record how long your hug is. The receiver will then feel your HUG with a vibration – for the same amount of time you’ve hugged your phone for. HUG makes it easy to send or feel a hug even if they’re on the opposite side
of the planet.

SAY EVERYTHING WITH A HUG – IT FEELS GOOD
To make your HUG really count, you can choose what kind of HUG you want to send. Do you feel happy, sad, curious, excited, loving or in the mood for partying? Send a 40second LOVING HUG to your fiancee while they’re at work, a 5second PARTY HUG to your friends on a Friday night, or a 1minute HAPPY HUG to your kids before they go to bed.

KEEP TRACK OF YOUR HUG RELATIONSHIPS
You’ll also be able to keep track of your HUGs. See how many HUGs you’ve sent to each other, what kind of HUGs they were, and how long you’ve hugged each other since you’ve started using the app.

THE SCIENCE BEHIND A HUG
It may just sound like a fun little idea, but HUG actually taps into a deeper level of science. It’s well known that hugging makes us both healthier and happier. According to 1P sychological Science , a hug increases levels of the "social hormone" oxytocin. This, in turn, has beneficial effects on your heart health and more. A 10second hug a day can lead to biochemical and physiological reactions in your body that can significantly improve your health. According to scientific studies, this includes: a boost to your immune system, a lower risk of heart disease, fight fatigue and infections, ease depression, reduce stress and boost your self esteem. It simply makes you feel good.

HUG – IT FEELS GOOD
Finally, HUG might not just be a new social network but also an app for a better health and well being. Sure, you are kind of hugging yourself. But in the end it’s all about perceptions – didn’t you feel good when you hugged your teddy bear as a child? When you receive your first HUG from someone you care about – there’s no doubt that you‘ll feel good. Download the app, invite your friends and family and send a HUG today.
