Professional athletes are making more money now than ever before. Unfortunately, many athletes have no experience managing such massive amounts of cash, so they often become the victims of unscrupulous parasites or live unsustainable lifestyles that eventually wipe out their finances. Here,NewsOne put together a list of seven pro-athletes who lost their fortunes to frivolous mistakes. These players can certainly be poster children for “Lifestyles of the Rich and Stupid”!

1) How is it that an NFL rookie signs a contract in 2006 for $26 million then five years later goes reportedly broke?  Vince Young (pictured) has proven that he possesses the financial savvy of a mental midget!  Should we really give a boo-hoo for a 29-year-old bottle-popper who allegedly dropped $5,000 a week at the Cheesecake Factory and once bought all of the seats on a Southwest Airline flight because he wanted to be alone?

Watch news coverage of Vince Young being broke here:

2) Baller, shot caller Allen Iverson (pictured), who earned more than $154 million in salary alone and another $50 million in endorsement deals over his superstar playing career, has nowfallen in to hard times.  Reportedly, the man who was once referred to as “the Answer” apparently doesn’t have any answers as to why he is as broke as a joke. Iverson’s high-roller lifestyle included excessive jewelry-buying and splurging on sponging relatives and associates. His chief downfall, though, was gambling. At one point, it was so reportedly extreme that he was banished from casinos in Detroit and Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Evander holyfield broke, athletes broke 2012

3) Boxing icon Evander Holyfield (pictured above), a four-time heavyweight champ, made a mint in his career with a reported $250 million. Unfortunately, all of those millions were reportedly squandered away on women, child support, and fancy do-dads. This past summer, Holyfield had to sell his 25,000-square-foot mansion for a mere $7.5 million because he owed his creditors more than double the amount. The legendary athlete held an auction for the belongings, such as his 1984 Olympic Bronze Medal..  In the words of the famous Mr. T., “I pity the fool!”

4) Iron Mike Tyson (pictured) was one helluva boxer and he was also one helluva bad business man, with money seeming to just evaporate in his hands. Tyson earned an estimated $400 million as a heavyweight boxer and now only owns that tribal tattoo on his face. Tyson filed for bankruptcy in 2003 and had to pay for a costly divorce settlement, a cocaine habit, as well as extravagant expenditures like jewelry, luxury cars, and designer duds. Tyson was also known for spending lavishly on nonsensical items, such as a $2 million tub. Unfortunately for Tyson, it is common knowledge that the 3-year prison sentence he served for rape did him in because he lost three years of income while he was still in his prime in the mid-nineties.  So the question remains, “Kids, do you REALLY want to be like Mike?”

5) Who says male jocks are the only ones who make bad money moves?  Marion Jones(pictured left) was a former-world champion track and field dynamo and B-ball player for the WNBA. Jones won five medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, for track, but after it was discovered that she “enhanced” her way to the top by taking illegal steroids then lying about it, she wasstripped of all of her Olympic medals.

Jones, who was one of track’s first female sports millionaires, brought in at least $7 million per year. Yet, she eventually filed for bankruptcy. The athlete’s lies cost her to lose the $2.5 million mansion she lived in and other properties she owned wound up being foreclosed. The once-celebrated Jones found herself heavily in debt, battling court judgments, and entangled in a check-counterfeiting scheme.  She received a 6-month sentence for perjury with regards to the check fraud case and for denying the use of performance-enhancing drugs.  Liar, liar, pants on fire!

Watch Jones entering prison here:

6) “Round-the-way boy” Kenny Anderson was a powerhouse on the courts but a fool regarding finances.  He earned about $60 million during his playing heyday in the NBA during the ’90s through early 2000s, but it somehow turned into dust.  Anderson allegedly loved to spend his money on items, such as pimped-out rides, and he also idolized the ladies. He has seven children with five different baby mommas and has been to the alter three times.  He used to give himself $10,000 a month for  “hang out” money and would regularly dole out thousands of bucks to friends and family members. Shortly after he retired from the game, Anderson filed for bankruptcy in 2005. In addition to his spendthrift ways, divorce and excessive child support payments also emptied out his “Big Daddy” pockets.

Watch Anderson talk about going broke here:

7) With 11 mouths to feed and 10 baby mommas to go along with the mouths, why wouldn’tTravis Henry (pictured) be broke?  Henry signed a $25 million contract in 2007 and had a base salary of $50,000 per month. The former NFL running back who played for three teams from 2001 to 2007, had children who were born just a few months apart.  The player’s eye-raising procreation agenda has cost him dearly with numerous child support disputes. In 2009, Henry was even placed behind bars for falling behind $16,600 in his child care obligations to one Mother. Travis’ total child care support payments lie somewhere around an estimated $170,000 per year.   The ex-Denver Broncos running back was also sentenced to three years in federal prison but served two for financing a cocaine-trafficking operation.  This past summer, shortly after his release from prison, Henry was reinstated back in to the NFL. While he was handed down an indefinite suspension after his drug involvement, Henry now hopes to generate interest from an NFL team.  Let’s hope he stops generating interest from any more potential baby mommas!

“All Hands On Deck”To Catch Tramire’s Shoote

8:30 a.m.: Shift line-up on Kensington Street.

Neighbors who heard the gunshot that hit a 1 1/2-year-old boy awoke to another surprise Thursday: a first-ever police shift line-up right out on their street.

Four rows of A Squad patrol officers and detectives from around the city lined up at 8:30 a.m. to start their shift—not at headquarters, as usual, but on Kensington Street.

They stood in front of the porch of 58-60 Kensington, where a gunman riding by in a car fired bullets at 2:31 p.m. Wednesday. One of those bullets struck 1 1/2-year-old Tramire Miller in the stomach —and ignited citywide grief and outrage.

Tramire’s condition had improved and was no longer critical Thursday morning, according to Yale-New Haven Hospital spokesman Mark D’Antonio. “Good news,” D’Antonio said. “He’s been upgraded” to “fair” condition. Tramire was feeling well enough to high-five the nurse who moved him from a gurney to a bed at Yale-New Haven’s Children Hospital.

Meanwhile, cops fanned out in the Dwight-Kensington and Hill neighborhoods through the night and morning following what a top cop called “strong leads” in the drive-by shooting.

And at 8:30 a.m., dozens of officers lined up to hear Capt. Joann Peterson call the roll and Assistant Chief Luiz Casanova give them their marching orders.

“We want all hands on deck,” Casanova declared. (Click on the play arrow to the above video to watch highlights.)

“The reason we’re doing this line-up out here today is because we want to reassure the communitythat the New Haven police department is on the scene. That every cop working in this city, every detective working in this city, is going to be on the case. A 1-year-old kid got shot in our community. Unacceptable. Unacceptable. Some of you guys are parents. Some of you guys are fathers, mothers, uncles, aunts. Pretend like this is a  of your family. I want this investigated like if it was a kid that belonged to you.”

A few doors down the block, Celena Jones woke up her sister Kianna Jones. Kianna rushed out to her porch in her sweats to watch the show.

She’d seen police line-ups “on TV or the movies” before but never in person, Kianna said.

“I thought they was gonna bust somebody’s house in” at first, she said. Then she saw the lectern.

“Thank God they’re coming here,” she said. “It should have been sooner.”

“It’s good,” said a neighborhood  who stood right behind the line-up, watching. He declined to give his name. “But it’s like a war zone. These  dealers don’t care about show time.”

Chief Dean Esserman, who also addressed the line-up, said he had previously held an out-in-the-street line-up following a major crime when he ran Providence’s department. “I stole the idea from London [police],” he said. He had told Assistant Chief Casanova about it. Casanova remembered the idea and decided Tramire’s shooting was the right time to try it out.

Elisa Castillo hopped into her 1996 Camry right after the line-up and turned on the ignition—with trepidation.

The car was parked right in front of 58-60 Kensington; she lives there, in the same house as Tramire’s family. One of the gunman’s bullets Wednesday hit her car, right by the gas tank.

“I just hope nothing happens when I turn it on,” she said as she prepared to head for class at GatewayCommunity College.

The key turned. The car started. She went on her way.

Meanwhile, officers left the line-up and swarmed the block talking to every neighbor they could find, resuming the hunt for evidence.

Officer Arpad Tolnay speaks in Spanish with neighbors across the street from Tramire’s house.

Cops gathered back at the intersection for another line-up at 5 p.m., at the beginning of the evening shift. Assistant Chief Casanova and Chief Casanova again delivered remarks to the cops, this time with a bank of TV cameras looking on

It's been quite a few years since Clueless hit theatres and became a cult-favorite amongst people everywhere, but now seemed like a good time for actress Stacey Dash to speak out on a topic she's pretty passionate about, the 2012 presidential election.
It all started when Stacey, who's 46 years old, tweeted out that she's voting for Mitt Romney this year, calling him "the only choice for your future."
She followed that tweet up with, "my humble opinion, everyone is entitled to one."
Well, shortly after, she received an influx of racist and terrorizing tweets from angry people who don't agree with her choice.
This led her to do an impromptu interview with Piers Morgan on CNN, where she cleared the air and spoke out on how disappointing the backlash was.
She said, "I don't understand it. I don't get it...I was shocked, saddened. Not angry. Saddened and really shocked. But you know what, you can't expect everyone to agree with you."
Even though she voted for Obama in 2008, Romney is the guy for her now, because she's concerned about the state of the country and wants the next four years to be different.
Stacey said she thinks Governor Romney and his wife are authentic and genuine, and thinks they see the need for us to be united and move forward.
Republican VP candidate Paul Ryan has since called Stacey and thanked her for her support and called her brave—he even sent her a tweet too.
But of course, there's always gonna be some people who still disagree!
Actor Samuel L Jackson tweeted, "Wait, did Stacey Dash really endorse Romney today? Really!?!? Is she cray!?!"
Russell Simmons also wrote a whole blog post about it—he doesn't agree with her choice, but certainly respects it.
I'll post a link below in the description box for you to check out Stacey's full interview with Piers Morgan, but of course, let me know in the comments section if you think Stacey is endorsing the right candidate!

Gunplay Officially Turns Himself Over To Authorities

by STEVEN J. HOROWITZ from http://www.hiphopdx.com

Yesterday, rumors swirled that Gunplay had turned himself over for an oustanding warrant on armed robbery and assault.

Earlier today, the Maybach Music Group rapper officially checked in to Miami-Dade Police in connection with armed robbery and not assault, as previously reported.

The robbery occurred several months ago at a tax preparation office in northwest Miami-Dade. A video shows Gunplay holding the firearm.

It is unclear how long he will remain behind bars, but he is expected to stay in jail as bond is not offered in armed robbery cases.

Watch a video of Gunplay checking into prison below (via CBS Local).

50 Cent went off yesterday on French Montana after the Bad Boy rapper made some negative comments recently talking about the G-Unit boss' record sales.

In interviews with Complex, French said that 50 should have avoided beefing with so many different artists.

"I feel like beef hurt himYou know if you follow our history you’ll know it’s like, from when we started until now, we’ve been good. We’re not the hottest, we’re not number one, but guess what? Everyday that goes by, we getting bigger and bigger," French said. "So I would rather do that, then come in and have a short run. I’d rather have a Cash Money run. Not to say that in a bad way, but 50 Cent could have been a lot bigger. You think 50 could come out and sell 10 million now?"

50 got wind of the interview and went off on French via Twitter.

"French Montana you ain't Sh*t boy. You out your league talking about me you hoe.i read your little interview what the f*ck is you high," 50 wrote on the social networking site. "French your Sh*t so weak you never had a song by your self fool. Ain't nobody's waiting to hear your verse. Girl. I'm not tweeting about this little fool No more. I'm a see him and he gonna explain that's it."

50 does bring up an interesting point regarding French's career. From Max B to Waka Flocka Flame, most of his  have been collaborations. Even his current single "Pop That" features three prominent rappers in Lil Wayne, Drake and Rick Ross.

‘Kahn’ you dig it?

CES adds amateur standout to next week’s stacked boxing card at Twin River Casino

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (Oct. 9, 2012) – The best show in town this fall just got even better.

Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports has added former amateur standout Toka Kahn of Providence, R.I., to its latest installment of the 2012 Thursday Night Fight Series at Twin River Casino, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012.

The 20-year-old Kahn, who is trained by Peter Manfredo Sr., will fight a four-round junior lightweight bout on the undercard of CES’ “Closing Statement” as he aims to keep his perfect record intact in just his third professional bout.

Born in Liberia, Kahn moved to Philadelphia at the age of six before eventually relocating to Providence. As an amateur, he won the 2010 National Golden Gloves Championship and brought home silver and bronze medals in the 2011 and 2012 U.S. Championships, respectively. Kahn made his professional debut in June with a second-round knockout win over Jonathan Caban in Providence and recently stopped Jamil Winfield in the opening round of their scheduled four-round bout Aug. 18 in Atlantic City.

“Adding Toka Kahn to this already-stacked lineup on October 18 is an honor and a privilege,” Burchfield said. “I’ve watched him grow up as an amateur and become not only a successful fighter, but a remarkable young man as well. This is a a must-see event with an all-star lineup, and it’s only fitting that one of Rhode Island’s brightest young stars will be on the card.”

Tickets for “Closing Statement ” are $40.00, $75.00 and $125.00 (VIP) and can be purchased by calling CES at 401.724.2253/2254, online at www.cesboxing.com or www.twinriver.com, at the Players Club booth at Twin River, or through any TicketMaster location. Doors open 6 p.m. with the first bout scheduled for 7.

The eight-round main event features a bit of regional flair with two of the newest additions to CES’ roster as Joseph “Chip” Perez (9-1, 3 KOs) of East Hartford, Conn., battles Hartford’s Chazz “Magnificent” McDowell (6-2, 1 KO) for the vacant New England Junior Lightweight title. The McDowell-Perez showdown is one of 10 fights on the card, which also includes two long-awaited rematches

“Closing Statement” also features two, four-round rematches, the first between Providence, R.I., super middleweight Alex Amparo (4-0, 2 KOs) and Nick Lavin (2-3, 2 KOs) of Shelton, Conn., who will face another again almost one year to the date of their first showdown in October of 2011, a fight Amparo won by majority decision, 39-37, 38-37, 38-38, at Twin River.

Also, Providence female bantamweight Shelito Vincent (4-0) will face Ivana Coleman (0-1) of Slidell, La., for the second time in four months. Vincent won the first bout convincingly, sweeping all four rounds on each of the scorecards in July to earn a unanimous-decision win.

Sparks will fly in the heavyweight division when hard-hitting Alex Santos (6-0, 5 KOs) of Lawrence, Mass., puts his undefeated record on the line against Providence’s Josh Harris (8-6-1, 6 KOs). The show also features two additional regional battles as former The Contender reality television star Rich Gingras (11-3, 7 KOs) of Attleboro, Mass., returns to face Providence’s Richard “Bobo The Bull” Starnino (9-9-2, 2 KOs) in a six-round light heavyweight bout and newcomers Jon Smith of Cranston, R.I., a former three-time New England Golden Gloves champion, and Dinis Paiva Jr. of East Providence, R.I., who has five professional mixed martial arts fights under his belt, square off in a four-round welterweight bout.

“The Vermont Bully” Kevin Cobbs (5-0, 1 KO) of Burlington, Vt., will look to keep his perfect record intact when he faces tough veteran Alexander Mancera (8-4-1, 5 KOs) of Queens, N.Y., in a four-round light heavyweight bout and middleweight Thomas Falowo (7-1, 5 KOs) of Pawtucket, R.I., will battle Ontario, Canada veteran Michael Walchuk (9-6, 2 KOs) in a six-round bout. Woonsocket, R.I., middleweight Joey Gardner (8-5-1, 1 KO) will face Philip Burnette (2-5, 1 KO) of Myrtle Beach, S.C., in a six-round bout.

(Twin River has waived its 18+ rule for “Closing Statement.” Anybody under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and must enter through the West entrance.)
