Come down to Southern Connecticut State University, 501 Crescent Street, New Haven, for CT Students for a Dream 5th Conference. conference focuses on the knowledge, skills, and resources that educators need in order to create a welcoming and supportive environment for undocumented students. Their theme this year, "Building Unafraid Schools and Communities," recognizes that there are things we can do before a student ever reveals they are undocumented to destigmatize the conversations around status in our schools -- and proactively have resources and information available. 5/20/19 Understanding White Supremacy 6:30pm –
Hosted by Moral Monday CT, this course will examine the concept of “race” from sociocultural and socio-spiritual perspectives. The course takes the position that “race,” like gender, class and sexuality, is socially constructed and applies these perspectives to the analysis of white supremacy in the United States. We will also take a look at how our understandings of “race” intersect with our understandings of and commitments to ethics, morality and justice informed largely from our faith based organizing roots. We also will examine our own individual and group understandings and beliefs, ideas and racial identities that make up the patterns of our lives. 5/25/19 Annual Sharing Ramadan 7pm – 9pm
Happening at United Muslim Mosque, 132 Prospect Street, Waterbury, There will be a special program at 7P.M. held in the parking lot called "Sharing Ramadan" with neighbors, clergy and dignitaries. We will learn about Ramadan and show brotherhood and sisterhood of humanity. There is plenty of parking around neighboring areas near the masjid and several hundred always attend. Alhamdullah (All praises be to God) Everyone is welcome to attend!!! Special thanks to everyone who will participate. There will be plenty of delicious food including grilled food.
