Officer Involved Shooting

 

New Haven | On Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 5:44 PM, officers of the New Haven Police Department were working in the Hill neighborhood when they observed a wanted suspect in the area of Greenwich Avenue and First Street.

 

The suspect attempted to flee on foot and during the encounter, a New Haven Police Officer discharged his firearm striking the armed suspect.  Medical attention was summoned and the suspect was transported to a hospital.  The suspect was listed in critical but stable condition.  A firearm was seized at the scene.

 

Per the Connecticut State’s Attorney’s Office, the Connecticut State Police (CSP) will conduct the investigation of the officer involved shooting.

 

Several streets are closed as NHPD officers are holding the scene for investigation.
