22 December, 2017 – PERSON SHOT
At 4:23 AM, Officers were dispatched to reported gunfire in the Ferry Street and Chamber Street area. While en route, dispatchers updated responding officers there was a person shot. The victim was located on the front porch of 222 Ferry Street.
The victim, twenty-two year old Cinque Yrial Preston, of New Haven, had a gunshot wound to his left forearm. He was taken to the hospital for treatment of his non-life threatening wound.
Preston would only say he’d been with two others on the porch when they were confronted by a group of three black men. They fired at Preston and his acquaintances and struck Preston. The house was damaged by bullets.
21 December, 2017 – PERSON SHOT
At 8:48 PM, Police and EMTs responded to the area in front of 34 Greenwood Street after calls to 911 and a ShotSpotter® activation reported a person shot and gunfire at that location.
Officers located the victim, fifty-five year old Awilda Cirino, of New Haven, suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and leg. She was rushed to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.
There is no description of any suspect or suspect vehicle at this time although investigators believe the shooter fled on foot. Detectives collected evidence from the scene.
UPDATE (22 December, 2017 @ 2:18 PM): The victim remains hospitalized in critical – but stable condition.
