United Way along with Workforce Alliance, is launching a Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) cohort this January for 18–24-year-old parents.

PLTI is a transformational experience for parents who see issues in their community and want to build on their knowledge and skills needed so that they can be effective in advocating for change for their children, families, and community.  There are many PLTI alums in our community who can clearly point to how the experience impacted their life.

Highlights of the program –

  • FREE 20-week learning experience in a cohort of 18–24-year-old parents from Greater New Haven
  • Weeks 1-10 focus on personal leadership and who you are as a parent leader
  • Weeks 11-20 focus on government, policy, and media, and how to claim your voice in these arenas
  • Meals provided each week
  • Weekly stipends provided for childcare and transportation
  • Participation stipend for those who successfully complete the program
  • Employment resources & training opportunities offered through the American Job Center

If you know of any 18–24-year-olds who may be in a moment in their lives to take advantage of this opportunity, please share the info with them, encourage them to apply, and/or connect them to JoAnne Wilcox, the PLTI Coordinator – jwilcox@uwgnh.org  or (203)952-4743.

Please check out the PLTI website and online application (also on the website).

Deadline is Friday, January 12th to apply.
