Las Vegas, Nevada:  Isaac "Golden Boy" Chilemba (24-4-2, 10 KOs) will return to the United States on Saturday, Nov. 19 to face dangerous light heavyweight prospect and NABF Light Heavyweight Champion Oleksandr "The Nail" Gvozdyk (11-0, 9 KOs) in a ten round bout as part of the Kovalev vs. Ward "Pound for Pound" pay-per-view telecast live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV. The bout will be presented by Main Events in association with Top Rank. The event will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT.
 
Chilemba, 29, a native of Blantyre, Malawi fighting out of Johannesburg, South Africa, is coming off a hard-fought loss against WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion Sergey "Krusher" Kovalev. Isaac holds the impressive distinction as only the second fighter in Kovalev's career to go the full 12 rounds. The only is future Hall-of-Famer Bernard "The Alien" Hopkins. In doing so, Chilemba managed to raise more than a few eyebrows among boxing fans and media.
 
In this redemption fight, Chilemba will have a tough challenge against Oleksandr Gvozdyk, 29, of Kharkov, Ukraine. Despite having only 11 professional bouts, Gvozdyk is a top-ten ranked light heavyweight in the WBC, WBO and IBF. Since making his professional debut in 2014, Oleksandr has defeated the first 11 opponents he has faced, stopping nine of them for an impressive 82% knockout-to-win ratio. In his last bout Gvozdyk secured his fifth straight stoppage and made his first successful defense of his NABF Light Heavyweight Title against Tommy Karpency in Las Vegas in July.
 
When asked about this match-up Chilemba responded, "Firstly, I thank Main Events for standing by me and for this opportunity. UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Oct. 15th, 2015) -- Hang around a gym long enough, and you'll start hearing the same stories, especially the one about the troubled teen who turned his life around through boxing.
 
Meet 27-year-old New York native Mike Marshall, a reformed "knucklehead" turned professional fighter looking to capitalize on his gift and become the light heavyweight champion of the world, lofty expectations for someone who didn't even put on gloves until he was 18.
 
"I wasn't into boxing when I was younger. I was into the streets," said Marshall (1-0, 1 KO), who makes his CES Boxing and Mohegan Sun Casino debut Saturday, Oct. 17th, 2015.
 
"If it wasn't for boxing, I don't know what I'd be doing right now. I'd probably still be a knucklehead."
 
The nephew of renowned trainer Andre Rozier, who's worked with world champion Daniel Jacobs and Curtis Stevens, among others, Marshall's been in and around boxing his whole life, except his fights took place everywhere except the gym.
 
"I was always a fighter growing up as a kid. I was just fighting in the streets," he said. "Then one day I got into trouble and a police officer grabbed me and took me to the boxing gym. He said I had anger issues or whatever.
 
"But I didn't follow up. I was a knucklehead. I just went to the gym one time and didn't bother with it, but then it stuck with me as a I got older, so as I got older I went back to the gym and then took it serious."
 
Marshall participated in a few "smokers" around the New York area and eventually advanced to the National Championships twice as an amateur before honing his skill as a sparring partner for established pros such as Jacobs, Stevens and undefeated Staten Island southpaw Marcus Browne. He began his own professional career in May, knocking out Ralph Johnson in Queens, and faces Florida's Will Williams (0-2) in a four-round bout Saturday night on the undercard of CES Boxing's "Gold Standard" card.

The experience working with the likes of Stevens, Jacobs, etc., taught Marshall as much about life as a professional as it did how to handle himself inside the ring. Wise beyond his years, he's come a long way from his days in his streets. Marshall's fights are now in the ring, the only place he can achieve that goal of winning a world title.  
 
"Boxing gave me discipline," Marshall said. "You can't party and box. I don't understand people that do that. You can't go to the gym and then go to the club. You can't go hang out. It keeps me out of trouble. It keeps me humble. The more fights I had, I learned to curb my mouth. I would talk a lot of crap, but that's just to hype me, myself, up, but then I'd talk crap to people, so boxing kept me humble.
 
"People thought I wouldn't make it this far, so to already have one knockout in my first professional fight, it made me realize if I put my mind to it, I can do anything," he continued. "I always had being a professional boxer in the back of my mind. My goal is just to be a world champion, just to prove people wrong, just to take it to the next step, by any means necessary."
 
The 10-round main event of "Gold Standard," promoted in association with Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and Artie Pelullo's Banner Promotions, features Providence, R.I., native and former junior middleweight world champion Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KOs) against Argentinian Dario Fabian Pucheta (20-2, 11 KOs) for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Association (WBA) International Titles, Andrade's first fight in 16 months.

UNDEFEATED WORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS junior middleweight Khiary Gray, seen here after winning the UBF Northeast Title in September, returns to the ring and puts his perfect record on the line against Denver's Marcus Dawkins in a six-round bout Saturday, Oct. 17th, 2015 on the undercard of CES Boxing's "Gold Standard" professional boxing event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.  -- Kendrick Ball always knew his protégé,Khiary Gray, had the right pedigree to be a star in the junior middleweight division, but this recent string of first-round knockouts? It's bordering on the absurd.
 
"The situation is a little overwhelming," Ball admitted. "It's not something we plan, but what we work on is if you happen to give us an opening, we'll take that opening and hurt you.
 
"I always knew how good he was. It was just a matter of showing everyone else."
 
Gray (9-0, 7 KOs), the reigning, undefeated Universal Boxing Federation Northeast champion from Worcester, Mass., has won his last six fights by first-round knockout, including his most recent bout Sept. 18th against Kenton Sippio-Cook in what was supposed to be the first major test of his career. Instead, Gray ripped through his opponent in impressive fashion, stopping Sippio-Cook at the 2-minute, 2-second mark of the opening round to capture the vacant UBF strap.
 
Less than a month later, Gray is back at it, scheduled to face Denver's Marcus Dawkins (4-2, 1 KO) in a six-round bout Saturday, Oct. 17th, 2015 on the undercard of CES Boxing's "Gold Standard" event at Mohegan Sun Arena, headlined by the long-awaited return of former world champion Demetrius Andrade.

Will Gray finally face some opposition and get some much-needed rounds? Ball hopes so.
 
"We train for longer rounds. When we were fighting four-rounders, we were already training for eight-rounders. Right now, we're doing six-rounders, so we're training for 12-round fights," Ball said. "I'm not worried about the rounds. Eventually, I know we'll run into someone that can probably take it a little longer and we'll get him out later on, but I think people are finally starting to see more of what he can do."
 
The irony of Gray's impressive streak, Ball said, is fight fans really haven't seen the best of what he has to offer. They've yet to see how he'll respond in a major test, or how he'll hold up physically and mentally over the course of a six- or eight-round fight. Time will tell. For now, some of Gray's best attributes are being overshadowed by the sheer violence and astonishment of his current knockout streak.
 
"Everyone knows he can punch. You can see he throws a good body shot. He's pretty accurate," Ball said. "What people don't understand is he has really good defense and his boxing IQ is really high. We're hoping to get some work in with someone who can give us some rounds so he can display that also."
 
Dawkins might be the one. The 5-foot-9 lefty recently boxed 10 rounds in his last fight, or precisely as many rounds as Gray has boxed in his last seven bouts. A former football and basketball standout in high school, Dawkins recalls watchingMike Tyson dismantle Michael Spinks in 91 seconds back in 1988 at the age of 9. He immediately caught the boxing bug, but admittedly didn't put on a pair of gloves until 2004. A self-proclaimed "defensive fighter," he's gone the distance in four of his six professional bouts.

"He's kind of a loopy fighter. Throws wide, loopy punches. Nothing I haven't seen before," Gray said. "It plays right into my game plan."
 
Echoing the same sentiment as his long-time trainer, Gray thought Sippio-Cook would give him "at least three, four rounds," but went for the kill when "the opportunity presented itself." The beginning of the end came with 1:16 remaining when Gray cracked his opponent with an overhand right that brought the crowd to its feet.
 
"That was the first one the whole fight," Gray said. "After that, he began to buckle every time I hit him."
 
Eleven seconds later, Gray delivered another right to the temple that sent Sippio-Cook to the canvas for good.
 
"I learned a lot in that fight. I learned to put more of my weight on my back leg and get more power out of my punches. Every fight, I learn something," Gray said.
 
"I just took it the same way I took my last fight. That's how I approach every fight. I don't try to put pressure on myself. I just go out and fight. I had a different mindset. I knew this was what I had been waiting for, a chance to step up."
 
Now he wants a chance to showcase his full arsenal in front of a packed house under the bright lights of Mohegan Sun. He might get that chance Oct. 17th, unless those trademark body shots get through.
 
"We did that a lot in the amateurs, and some of the fights he lost were due to the fact they weren't scoring body shots," Ball said. "I always knew he was a good body puncher and it was going to work out perfect for us when we turned pro, so even if we fought a guy we knew we'd eventually beat the body up, wear him down fast enough and beat the body to slow him down.
 
"There won't be anybody -- well, I can't say anybody, but it's going to take a really strong person to be able to take body shots for a certain amount of rounds. We're definitely going to touch the body a certain amount of times in a round where eventually three or four rounds later they're either going to shit on themselves or they'll be pissing blood."

NEW YORK (Jan. 12th, 2016) -- Brimming with confidence during Tuesday's press conference at Madison Square Garden, Hank Lundy made it abundantly clear he's more than just a backup plan for his upcoming opponent, Terence Crawford, boldly predicting the coronation of a new 140-pound king on Feb. 27th.
 
While the mainstream media has painted Lundy (26-5-1, 13 KOs) as the second or third choice among the Crawford camp for their fighter's first title defense of 2016 (contenders Mauricio Herrera, Viktor Postol, etc., reportedly turned down the fight), Lundy promises to steal the show when the two square off for Crawford's World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Welterweight Title in the main event of HBO's World Championship Boxing doubleheader at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, promoted by Top Rank and CES Boxing.

Crawford (27-0, 19 KOs), the reigning WBO champ, is considered one of the sport's breakthrough stars, perhaps a top five pound-for-pound fighter by the end of the year if he survives Lundy on Feb. 27th.
 
Since winning the title from Ricky Burns in England in 2014, Crawford has defended his title four times with knockout wins over Yuriorkis Gamboa, Thomas Dulorme and Dierry Jean.
 
"Everybody knows you, Hank. You're like the boy who cried wolf," Crawford said. "You talk a good game, but when you lose it's always something. 'I'm going to do this ... I'm going to do that.' You ain't gonna do shit. You talk about how street you are. That's talking, boy.
 
"We know about you. We've heard about you getting socked up in the gym and not doing anything. You can smile all you want. You can talk all you want. For real, though, when you look at me in the eyes, I'm about that lifestyle. You've heard my background. We ain't heard nothing about Hank. We just hear you talking.
 
"I'm going to put on a spectacular show come Feb. 27th. I'm gonna hit him in his mouth and he's going to end up like [Dierry] Jean and get what he's looking for."
 
The 27th will be Lundy's first shot at a world title, a long overdue opportunity after nearly a decade of working his way to the top by facing the toughest opposition in the sport. Lundy's last 17 fights have covered 13 different states and two countries and the combined record of his opponents during that stretch is a remarkable 276-44.
 
"He's fought real fights," Burchfield said. "He's never backed down from anyone. He stays in the gym. He's done nothing to harm his body. He's a warrior. Terence is a warrior. This is why this fight has the ingredients to be the top fight of 2016."
 
No stranger to controversy, Lundy suffered a split-decision loss to Dulorme in December of 2014 after battling back from an early knockdown before his highly-publicized 2015 showdown in Los Angeles against Herrera, which ended in a technical decision loss for Lundy when the fight was stopped toward the end of the fifth round due to a pair of cuts over each of Herrera's eyes caused by accidental head-butts.
 
"Another round and it would've been a knockout victory for Hank," Burchfield said. "We've told Herrera we'd fight him. We'd fight him for nothing. They won't fight us."
 
Crawford went on to stop Dulorme in six rounds in April in a blistering performance by the reigning champ in Texas, but, Burchfield said, Dulorme was "damaged goods" by that point courtesy of the test he faced from Lundy in his previous bout.
 
"I beat the brakes off him," Lundy said of Dulorme. "Had the man running around the ring."
 
Crawford's trainer, Brian McIntyre, had a different perspective from watching the fight.
 
"He said he was beating up Dulorme. No you weren't," McIntyre countered. "You were losing, dog. You did come back, though, but you needed help. You needed someone to coach you in the corner, to get you up. 'Come on, man. You got dog in you! You got dog in you!'
 
"I don't have to do with that Terence, because the dog's already in him when he comes out. I know that for sure. You don't have confidence in yourself. Another thing I noticed about you, you've switched coaches time and time again. That's inconsistency, bro, along with your chin. Your chin is inconsistent!
 
"I respect you. I'm just stating the obvious and the obvious is you're going to get your ass kicked. I bet you that. I bet $10,000 on that."

For all of you young fighters here and all of the dreams and goals you have in your mind, set them up, visualize them, accomplish them. Accomplish what you want to do in this sport of boxing. It’s rough and it’s tough. Gary Balletto, he’s been in it. He knows I’ve been it since I was ye high. The reason I didn’t want him hitting me is because I didn’t want to get hit. That boy hit hard! I was dipping and dodging those punches. The things I’ve seen him do to everyone else, hell no.

 

I do want to thank my dad, Paul Andrade, for sticking it out and making sure I had everything I needed to prosper in the sport of boxing. Even though we had our ups and downs, we’re back together because there’s nothing more important than family. I also want to thank Ed Farris. He’s been with me since I was 14 years old. I came to a time and point in my life where I needed some real help. He made it happen for me, man. I’m living good, I made some good investments and now I’m just ready to fight man. I can’t wait to put on a fresh pair of gloves.

 -- Greg Rebello knows better than to drown in all the pre-fight hype.

 

"It's 15 minutes of your life. That's it," he said, casually dismissing the buzzwords typically reserved for fights of this magnitude.

 

"It's a 15-minute fistfight. After that, we'll be drinking beers at the bar."

 

The second stint of Rebello's comeback, which began only six months after the 32-year-old Providence native retired in June of 2013, has finally come to this, another national TV showcase and a heavyweight showdown with Massachusetts vet Tyler King on the main card of "CES MMA XXIX" Friday, June 12th, 2015 at Twin River Casino.

 

Few heavyweights in this region have been this good for this long. A former college and pro football player, the 35-year-old King is 9-2 after beating Mike Mucitelli on short notice in March, also on AXS TV, while Rebello ran his record to 17-6 following a win overJ.A. Dudley in October. With both fighters having trained with one another through the years, developing a friendship while each climbing the ladder at their own pace, they figured this day would come.

 

"It was only a matter of time," Rebello said. "Someone will go to the top and someone will go back into the mix. I want to go higher up that ladder, and in order to do so I have to fight guys like this. I'm cool with that."

 

"I have tremendous respect for Greg," added King, "but this is business. It's a job. It's what we get paid to do. I'm trying to take his head off and he's trying to take my head off. It is what it is. We both love to do this.

 

"If I didn't come in and try to take his head off, it'd be disrespectful to him."

 

Rebello (17-6, 9 KOs) has experience and a killer Muay Thai repertoire on his side. The brutality of the head kick he administered on Cody Lightfoot in 2011 remains entrenched in the memories of New England fans. Some would swear the bloodstains on the canvas haven't faded either, perhaps a warning for anyone who dares to get within striking distance.

 

"He's a junkyard dog, a real tough prick," King said. "It won't be easy to put away a guy like that."

 

King is more of a wrestler than a striker, a hulking, 6-foot-5, 223-pound former lineman who would stand to benefit from keeping his opponent on the canvas, thereby neutralizing Rebello's ability to end the fight with one blow.

 

As he contemplates his strategy, remaining focused on the task at hand rather than what lies ahead, Rebello admits his chief concernFriday is "not getting laid on." Though not aesthetically pleasing, the "lay and pray" approach worked swimmingly for Mike Stewart and Lewis Rumsey, each of whom mauled Rebello when faced with the task of defending a prestigious Muay Thai striker.

 

Those fights left Rebello at a crossroads, physically and emotionally drained from raising his infant daughter and not being able to put all his efforts into training. With his daughter approaching her third birthday, Rebello can finally balance fighting and fatherhood. This, he says, is the best he's felt in years.

 

"I've trained more for this fight than I have for any other camp over the past three years," he said. "Life's gotten a lot easier. Now my daughter comes to the gym with me and jumps in the ring. She loves it.

 

"I'm in unbelievable shape," he continued. "I don't get injured. My body doesn't have the wear and tear of someone in their mid-20s. I've never been hurt. I've never torn an ACL. I train smart. I've cut my sparring days in half. I do a lot more technique work and working on my standup. One day a week, we go at it, then the rest is all technical stuff. I recover a lot faster. I train hard, but I train smart, too."

 

This may be "just another fight," as King put it, but the muddled chain of command in New England's heavyweight division rests on the outcome of Friday's long-awaited showdown. Two friends sharing the spotlight, and perhaps a post-fight beverage when all is said and done, makes for must-see TV.

 

"I've never had an easy fight, and this goes along with that theme," King said. "I feel awesome. I'm coming into this fight feeling amazing.

 

"Greg has set a standard in New England for a long time. I'm aware of that. But everyone I face is just an opponent in my way. I need to be aware of what he does and what he's capable of."
