Yaci, Osvaldo and Darin - three Panamanian youth - go from cowbell to MPC while learning the skills to become beat makers. Check us out Wednesdays for more stories, and beats from Panamanian festivals, schools and prisons. 

Developed at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Beat Making Lab is a program that brings the tools and techniques of digital music making to young musicians in developing nations. In Portobelo, Panama a Beat Making Lab was established at La Escuelita Del Ritmo where over a dozen youth collaborated with local and international artists on original electronic beats and songs. 

Episodes documenting the experience air every Wednesday starting April 10th through May 8th. Professor Pierce Freelon and producer Apple Juice Kid host.
