CITY STAFF INVITED TO LEARN ‘HANDS ONLY’ CPR AT LARGE-SCALE, CITY HALL EXERCISE FRIDAY New Haven – City of New Haven employees in the 165 Church Street / 200 Orange Street government center complex will have the opportunity to learn how to perform hands only CPR at a large-scale, group instruction exercise tomorrow morning. This 20-minute ‘class’ is part of the 2017 World CPR Challenge, during which a team of about a dozen instructors from the New Haven Fire Department and American Medical Response will help staff members learn how to save a life with three quick steps. Tomorrow’s ‘class’ is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. in the first floor atrium of City Hall – 165 Church Street. Members of the press corps are invited to attend and cover this public health / public safety event. More than 300,000 people succumb yearly to pre-hospital cardiac arrest in the United States. Instructors have urged participation in this fashion: “Do not be that person who says ‘I wish I knew what to do.’” #
